George Harrison – Isn’t It A Pity

It would have been yet another Beatles classic, but turned up after the group’s finish, in 1970.  The song is thought to be about the end of the Beatles, because, well, we think that about every solo recording from the moptops!

Isn’t it it a pity how we break each other’s hearts and cause each other pain…

…and other lines, can be related to government: that we brought about this specialized institution to enforce our getting along. Idealists can dream we can treat each other well, but until then, coercive powers of correction are often required.

Isn’t that a pity?
