The Guess Who – Share the Land

Canadian rockers The Guess Who released Share the Land, the album, in 1970, and the same-titled song was banned for a time in the USA.

The lyrics were a trippy collage of feel good hippie vibes, perhaps even celebrating the commune lifestyle, but as a result, also seemed communist:

“Maybe I’ll be there to share the land/That they’ll be giving away/When we all live together,” could be out of the Marxist playbook in which private property is ultimately abolished.
