According to 1970s slang, jive is talking nonsense.
It’s not a perfect fit, but the chorus to this song could surely apply to voter cynicism toward politicians being dishonest in their speechifying:
“It’s just your jive talkin’/You’re telling me lies, yeah/Jive talkin’/You wear a disguise”
While we harangue politicians for being deliberately vague, we also rake them over the coals every time they go off message. Jiving us is about all they can do, often. This may not be “far out” (cool), but can you nevertheless “dig it” (understand)?
