Van Halen – Jump

The Liberal Party of Canada chose a new leader in 1984, John Turner, who briefly became Canada’s 17th prime minister. The song used at the leadership convention was Van Halen’s anthem, a Billboard #1 in 1984. Given that the lyrics suggest the song is about suicide, it may be an odd choice for a political party to use as it revitalized itself with a new leader.
