Bill Clinton campaigned for president with Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 song, Don’t Stop, the second single following Go Your Own Way, from their most popular record, Rumours. He used it at Democratic National Conventions, in 1992, and again in 2000, when he quoted the lyrics. Don’t Stop was also performed by the band at his 1993 inauguration.
While Don’t Stop is known now for being covered by the Glee television series, in a way, the lyrics came to represent President Clinton’s marital troubles given his infidelity, too. Band member Christine McVie was inspired to write Don’t Stop following the ending of her marriage to bass player John McVie.
