In 1996, Republican presidential challenger to incumbent Bill Clinton, Bob Dole, used this song, reworked with his name in it.
The tune was written by Isaac Hayes and Dave Porter in 1967, and was a hit for Sam Moore and Dave Prater. The instruments were played by Booker T. and the M.G.’s. and for Dole, Moore himself reportedly, and without permission, reworked the lyrics to fit the (failed) presidential campaign.

Moore also performed at George Bush’s inaugural, in 1989.
