Marilyn Manson – The Fight Song

Can the messenger shoot down their own message? Marilyn Manson is known for shocking while in this song disparages the glorification of violence in American popular and political culture.

The 2000 song is widely believed to be about the Columbine High School Massacre in 1999 in which two young shooters murdered 12 students and one teacher. And then took their own lives. Many more were injured. However, the singer has said it is more about the media and sports violence. The confusing Fight Song also takes a jab at Christianity. And sort of quotes Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, with the lyric,

The death of one is a tragedy but the death of millions is just a statistic.
