This 1981 single has a chorus sometimes misinterpreted as “I love Cecille,” instead of “Our Lips Are Sealed.” Umm, from a girl new wave band, that gives the song an entirely different (sexual) message. Which is the point of this post.
In public life, politicians are ever scrutinized for the slightest trip of their tongues, and then hammered for that. As if Joe Public always speaks eloquently!
There’s more: so politicians then use speaking notes and teleprompters to stay on message, but then are lambasted for being robotic and disingenuous.
They really can’t win. This quandary is not nearly as infectious as the fun video!
