Dire Straits – Brothers In Arms

There is online discussion about what wars these lyrics are referencing, so perhaps this 1985 song has become a protest against war in general. It’s likely the “mist covered mountains” and “lowlands” refer to Scotland.  The Scottish Civil Wars is a catch-all term for a number of historical events spanning centuries. Nonetheless, Mark Knopfler sings, we are fools to make war.
